Park sex assault paedophilia suspect arrested and released

A Sydney man who pleaded guilty to indecent assault has been released from prison after serving only one day.
A magistrate decided to let 31-year-old Ian Stroud go to jail after seeing that he had no criminal record.
Mr Stroud pleaded guilty to assaulting a 17-year-old girl at a Sydney house in December 2013.
The victim's mother was the third person to report the assault to police.
He is facing several charges and was awaiting trial before a NSW Supreme Court judge when the judge made the recommendation.
The decision was made at about 9:30am today, which was five hours late.
The magistrate ordered the state prosecutor to pay costs in respect of the victim's loss of earnings, as well as legal costs.
He did not say what the terms of the sentence would be.
As part of the sentence, Mr Stroud had been told he could not have contact with the victim on the day she had been assaulted.

Sydney Mayor Clover Moore on Wednesday said that the state of emergency declared a fortnight ago by Premier Denis Napthine is not working.
Ms Moore told Nine Network radio that the state of emergency will not stop the dumped waste being dumped at the AEC site – but it will make it a little harder.
Ms Moore said the new state of emergency declared for the first time on Tuesday will not make any difference, so long as dumped rubbish is left to remain underground.
"I think we're really at a point of where the emergency response is not as strong as it needs to be to have a chance to remove the debris," she said.
"I think as soon as there's a new emergency situation, then all these problems of the city that was brought about by that rubbish dumping all being transported up to Sydney will begin to sort itself out because it's all connected."
The AEC's Melton landfill in Bayswater is among the city's most valuable waste sites.
It is estimated that a million tonnes of waste have been dumped at the site between July 2010 and July 2012.
The AEC has said the city will be responsible for up to a third of the cost of managing the site. It has spent $27m on the land's rehabilitation.
More than 1,500 workers have been deployed in the area, working to clean up the site and provide clean drinking water for residents to drink.
Mayor Moore said that although residents' lives have been affected, the "greater harm" has been caused by the waste that has been dumped on them.
"The problem with this is it's affecting people, it's affecting schools, community centres," she said.
"It's impacting their daily lives, it's affecting all of their communities around it. It will continue to harm people and our region."
Melbourne's waste-to-energy company EnergyAustralia has been working with the council since Tuesday to address the issue.
